According to Variety and Hollywood Reporter, Benderspink has acquired the film rights to horror comicbook ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction released just last week by Red 5 Comics. The series is written by Kevin Grevioux, who created the “Underworld” franchise.
Red 5 Comics recently began publishing “ZMD.” Publisher also has a film adaptation of “Afterburn” set up with Neal Moritz to produce.
Grevioux is also an actor and will next appear in the third installment of the “Underworld” franchise, “Rise of the Lycans,” next year.
Benderspink, which will have a booth at Comic-Con in San Diego later this week, will produce the project. Company is also set to produce “Y: The Last Man” and “Drafted” at New Line, “Pencilneck” at Lionsgate and “Pet Robots” at Disney, all based on comicbooks or graphic novels.
ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction #1 is in stores now, and will be available at the Red 5 Comics booth at San Diego Comic-Con this week.
